Tone Set for End of Season BSL swimmers went into the NAC Summer Sizzler recently with a chance to size up some of the best competition in the country. The team as a whole stepped up to the plate and set the tone for the end of the season championship meets. The meet featured teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Indiana, South Dakota, Texas, Oregon, Iowa, Massachusetts, Illinois, Georgia, Ohio, and Mississippi. Fighting through the almost 1,000 swimmers to score at the meet were Emily Allen, Katrina Chapman, Mary Beth Duckett, Katelyn Duke, Will Freeman, Daniel Hess, Corey Holmes, Raymond Ludwig, Madeline Pitt, Genny Pittman, and Andrew Reeves. For those that want to see most of these swimmers finals swims, they can be found on floswimming.com, who provided video coverage of the meet. The following swimmers also performed well, each reaching a new BSL Stepping Stone time: Silver: Katrina Chapman, Mary Beth Duckett, Katelyn Duke, Corey Holmes, Raymond Ludwig, and Genny Pittman (also qualified for summer sectionals) Bronze: Daniel Hess and Jonathan Hess SEQT: Emily Allen, Julia Etterer, Pierce Jackson, Bryan Leiter, Addy McCraw, Andrew Mullins, Lydia Mullins, Madeline Pitt, Mary Ann Powell, and James Sweeney White: Clayton Lawrence BSL will next be in action at the BSL/CTA Last Chance Meet in Tuscalossa over the weekend of July 10-12. B.S.L. - "A TRADITION" Founded in 1965 by Jack Barnacastle and the other summer league coaches to keep swimmers active year round. BSL has evolved into a program that offers the finest in aquatic instruction and training. Emphasis is on individual development and a concern for healthy minds as well as healthy bodies. BSL swimming teaches not only technique but the values of hard work and sportsmanship as well. BSL is incorporated and owned by its membership, while directed and operated by a full time professional staff for benefit of the children of Birmingham and the surrounding areas. |
| B.S.L. COMPETITION BSL competes in U.S.A. swimming meets with competition ranging from novice to the national level. As a group, BSL hosts 5 - 6 meets annually and competes in meets from the local to the national level. Swimmers compete against others of similar ability. The BSL coaching staff enters swimmers in meets that are in the best interest for the swimmer's development. |
